Incidents of criminal activity and anti social behaviour in South Witham - pdf file Jan 2010.

If you see a crime in progress please call Police immediately on 999.  If reporting suspicious vehicles please make a note of registration numbers, as without these it is very difficult to investigate.

To avoid being a victim I recommend you follow these guidelines;

1. Never open your door until you know who is there. Use your Door Viewer or look through a window.

2. If you do not recognise the person put the door chain on or simply do not answer the door.

3. Always decline any offers to have work done to your home or garden by someone who comes to your door (If work is required contact a local company or person who has established a reputation within your community)

4. Have a story prepared to turn down their offer, such as my nephew is a Policeman and does all my house repairs etc

5. Never allow access to your home. KEEP THE DOOR CHAIN ON and keep your back door locked

6. If your relatives always take you to your Bank or Building Society let them retain your Passbook and tell the staff to query any unplanned large withdrawals.

7. Tell your neighbours to follow this advice.

8. Please contact your local Police if you have these people coming to your area.

Have a peaceful and secure summer.    Julia Higgins PC 60 Grantham South Rural beat, Colsterworth..

Postal Scam

Please be aware of the following...

A card is posted through the door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk

These cards have already been received in homes in Leicestershire, so we may be next!
